Caribou hunting at Schmok Lake and Commonwealth Lake has been absolutely outstanding. We are currently sitting at 100% success r
ate, and only have another week to go. The caribou are all around, on each side of both lakes, and guests don’t having to go far to seek out that Trophy Bull. With two tags each, our guests still don’t find it difficult to pick out a nice looking bull that has exactly what they are looking for.
Our last group out of Commonwealth took sixteen animals in two days. They spent the remaining three days, jump shooting Ptarmigan and fishing for Northern Pike or Lake Trout. The only drawback was that the camp manager had to call for more beer.
Both camps have taken a Black Bear, and have reported seeing wolves from the cabins. Unfortunately the wolves tend to show up when all the guests have tagged out.

Reports from both of Webber’s Caribou Camps are saying that the caribou are still coming down and still moving. It doesn’t seem as if the end is in sight yet, and with only one week left of hunting we should be able to report a very successful year for this Canadian Caribou Hunt.
Two out of our three moose hunting camps opened up two days ago, so we should soon be getting some reports from both of those camps about the moose situation. The best thing to hear over the satellite phone is, “Moose down, Moose down.”
