Webber’s Lodges is pleased to announce that we have partnered with Travel Manitoba, to become part of a Manitoba Lodge Co123[1].jpgntingent to travel to the Jagd & Hund International Sportsman’s show in Dortmund, Germany.

This will be a first for us, and we are very excited to participate in what is said to be “Europe’s leading meeting place for hunting and angler fishing.”

Like every Sport Show we do we will be showcasing some of Manitoba’s best Northern Pike and Lake Trout fishing. Not to mention promoting Manitoba’s Trophy Caribou and Moose hunting.

Manitoba is quickly becoming one of the most sought after big game hunting and trophy fishing destinations in the world, and you can be sure that Webber’s Lodges will be at the forefront every step of the way.

Canadian Caribou Hunting in Manitoba – Webber’s Lodges Currently at 100% Success!

Caribou hunting at Schmok Lake and Commonwealth Lake has been absolutely outstanding. We are currently sitting at 100% success rcaribou camp 2009 118.jpgate, and only have another week to go. The caribou are all around, on each side of both lakes, and guests don’t having to go far to seek out that Trophy Bull. With two tags each, our guests still don’t find it difficult to pick out a nice looking bull that has exactly what they are looking for.

Our last group out of Commonwealth took sixteen animals in two days. They spent the remaining three days, jump shooting Ptarmigan and fishing for Northern Pike or Lake Trout. The only drawback was that the camp manager had to call for more beer.

Both camps have taken a Black Bear, and have reported seeing wolves from the cabins. Unfortunately the wolves tend to show up when all the guests have tagged out.

Reports from both of Webber’s Caribou Camps are saying that the caribou are still coming down and still moving. It doesn’t seem as if the end is in sight yet, and with only one week left of hunting we should be able to report a very successful year for this Canadian Caribou Hunt.

Two out of our three moose hunting camps opened up two days ago, so we should soon be getting some reports from both of those camps about the moose situation. The best thing to hear over the satellite phone is, “Moose down, Moose down.”

Fishing in Canada (and feasting) Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This!

Manitoba Fishing - Delicious Shore lunch at North Knife Lake Lodge!Greetings from North Knife Lake Lodge!

Our 2009 fishing season is now just a cast away! It’s our latest start date ever due to ice conditions, but we’ll be well underway in a few days. Staff have arrived at the lodge and are busy getting ready for the season ahead. Part of that season includes Webber’s famous Shore Lunches.

There is nothing more spectacularly delicious than fresh-caught Northern Pike cooked over an open fire, fried potatoes, corn, beans, and Helen’s homemade bannock and cookies. With that in mind, yesterday we took some time out and did a shore-lunch "test run." *grin*

After a little over an hour of fishing in "Runway Creek" we came back with several Northern Pike and a few beautiful Lake Trout. Back at camp we got the fire going by the shore and moved our dining room down to the dock. We feasted like kings, while listening to Mike mumble, "Oh MAN, this is good!" between bites.

It was nice to take a few hours on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy our little slice of paradise before our season gets into high gear. So to all our past, present, and future clients of Webber’s Lodges,

Cheers to another great season ahead!
